The story begins back in July 2021…

I had an opportunity to get to know about esoteric Buddhist teaching in Japan through a friend. I have been always curious about the teaching, another way of describing it is how to find true happiness

The teaching itself talks about, “Do for others” to heal me. It also says, “Try to maintain love and compassion towards others.”

This stuck in my mind since, then a few months later in October 2021, I came across “Tibetan Medicine” on a social media page. 

It was the perfect timing for me to study Tibetan Medicine, it entails deep learning about our mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. There was no hesitation whatsoever to enrol myself and my journey with Tibetan Medicine began.

I still clearly remember the first online lecture session, Dr Pasang said, “Studying Tibetan Medicine is to heal yourself before you heal others” 

When I heard that I had goosebumps on my arms, it resonated with me deeply. I just felt right about it.

Another piece of wisdom from Dr Pasang says, “Your patient may not be open-minded straight away, you will need to be patient and listen to them with love and compassion.”

This made sense for me. I have been on my journey to find out what I might have been missing in this modern world.

Please don’t get me wrong, how wonderful it is to utilise modern technology to assess our health status and improve health markers by adding targeted nutritional and lifestyle interventions. We are more focused on, “being in control” and it is a great way to ease our worry and anxiety about our illness and health.

What I love about Tibetan Medicine is using old ancient philosophies, carried and passed on for thousands of years. It tends to focus on a holistic approach including mental, emotional and spiritual elements, all elements are equally important. 

Becoming in tune with our inner voice to understand our health capabilities at the point of life, not necessarily masking core problem/s, understanding life itself by experiencing what we’ve been experiencing.

The voice inside us can be mental and emotional misalignment that needs to be addressed or something that can be disturbed by other factors such as seasonal influences, climate, or unusual weather.

Other misalignments can occur from having an excess of some particular nutrition or diet at the wrong time of the year, and it can be behavioural things that can aggravate particular constitution such as wind, bile and phlegm.

Certain times of our lives can be dominated by a particular element, for example, elderly people generally have wind nature due to the degeneration of the body functionality, therefore, wind (rLung) energy can move freely throughout the body easily.

Treatment can be nutritional & lifestyle prescription according to what element is in excess and finding out other factors, and the level of illness that has been manifested so far.

My Tibetan Medicine study just started and I see this as a lifelong learning journey. I would love to be able to move towards more lifestyle and mindset prescriptions with fewer supplements as a recommendation eventually.

That way, clients and patients would feel more empowered by taking action for themselves.

I am so grateful to finally meet with Tibetan Medicine, it has been a long time coming. I will cherish and embrace the journey with Tibetan Medicine philosophy as a natural health care practitioner.
